     from the President of the Southern  Arizona Chapter, Ana Perez-Arrieta

Welcome to the Southern Arizona Chapter of AWLA! 

This year marks the 31st anniversary of the Southern Arizona Chapter of AWLA.  This organization and its members have now been promoting and encouraging the advancement of women in the legal profession for three decades.  I am honored and proud to serve as your President for the coming year.

We have a lot of exciting plans for 2010.  We will continue our tradition of hosting monthly luncheons at the Manning House.  Our monthly luncheons offer great food, networking opportunities, interesting speakers and CLE credit at a reasonable price.  At our luncheon in November, we will honor all thirty of our past presidents.  At each monthly luncheon, we will continue collecting items for charities in our local community.

In April, we will have our Annual Wine and Cheese event at the Steinfeld Mansion downtown.  At this year’s Wine and Cheese event, we will welcome the new Dean of the University of Arizona James E. Rogers College of Law, Lawrence Ponoroff.  Please stay tuned for more information about the social event that we will be organizing in the spring or fall.  For those of you with children, our Mother’s Forum will have a few brown bag lunches to discuss work-life balance issues and quarterly outings for mothers and children.

If you are not a member, please join!  If you a member, please remember to renew your membership when it expires, and I encourage you to attend as many AWLA events as possible.  The weekly AWLA emails are a great way to stay connected and informed about our events, CLE opportunities and job openings across the state.  I hope to see you soon at an AWLA event.
